Synopsis:
The motivation for avoiding conventional herbicides vary wildly from person to person. Understanding the best options for property specific issues is critical in gaining the trust of the individual(s) you are working with.  Additionally, presenting useful information for both organic and conventional methods should result in a more aware and educated public.

Participants will learn:
- The concept of “organic” can vary from person to person. Be able to explain how a method may not be organic but could be more beneficial to land quality/health.
- Not write off an organic option in some situations, due to stigma of lesser efficacy.
- Be able to inform landowners that there is no single solution to good weed management.

About the speaker:
Kara Harders, Regional Small Acreage Management (SAM) Specialist at Colorado State University Extension/ NRCS
For the past three years, Kara has served as a Small acreage specialist for the Peaks and Plains region of Colorado. In this position, Kara work closely with landowners and managers to design plans to best help their properties while keeping in mind their values, budget, and time. Weed control is the most requested topic and navigating how to best present information about herbicides is a critical part of the job.  Prior to this position, Kara worked in production agriculture for 10 years and received a Master of Science in Agricultural Education and Communications.
