Synopsis

 

Sublette County Weed and Pest has been managing cheatgrass at the landscape level since 2011. This is a large project with over a hundred thousand acres of aerial treatments. This project encompasses valuable partnerships, lots of funding and developing a dynamic weed management plan. This presentation will discuss how Sublette County started this taskforce, conduct surveys, treatments and pull it all together to protect sagebrush core with habitats crucial to sage grouse, pronghorn and mule deer and other sagebrush obligates and grazers.

Julie Ann Kraft

Supervisor, Sublette County Weed and Pest

 

Julie Ann Kraft is an experienced weed science professional with over two decades of expertise in noxious weed management, invasive species control, and ecological restoration. Currently serving as Supervisor at Sublette County Weed and Pest, she leads district operations, staff training, grant writing, education programs, and collaborative efforts with statewide agencies. Julie holds a B.S. in Rangeland Ecology and an M.S. in Weed Science from Colorado State University. A passionate advocate for Early Detection and Rapid Response strategies, she plays an active role in numerous organizations including the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council, North American Invasive Species Management Association, and PlayCleanGo. Recognized for her leadership and outreach, she is committed to preserving native ecosystems through science, collaboration, and education.
