Synopsis of the topics being presented:
Principles of sensible weed management for lawns and other turf areas will be presented, including the importance of weed identification and herbicide selection. Weed management during establishment of new turf areas and for conversion of bluegrass to native grass will be discussed. Newer herbicide chemistry will be presented.

Learning objectives:
1.Participants will understand the importance of weed identification as it relates to sensible herbicide selection and application (timing, rates); useful weed identification apps will be demonstrated.
2.Participants will understand the intricacies of weed management during establishment of turfgrasses and in conversion of turf areas to native grasses.
3.Participants will learn how to manage the most difficult and common problematic weeds in lawns and native conversions.

About the speaker: 
Tony Koski
Extension Turf Specialist
Colorado State University
 
Tony Koski has been the Extension Turf Specialist and a professor at Colorado State University since 1988. He teaches turfgrass management and advises turf management students in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. As Extension specialist, he works with all facets of Colorado’s professional turf management industry, including the golf course industry, sports turf, professional lawn care, and sod production. His research interests include landscape water management, weed control, turf fertility and soil management. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University.
